Subway Canada Launches SubDog: Footlong Hotdog Settles Sandwich Debate

Subway Canada officially entered the world of hotdogs on Monday, launching The SubDog, a first-of-its-kind footlong hotdog made with a half-pound of all beef, in partnership with a national contest with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Subway Canada said the SubDog takes the summer staple and reimagines it through its signature build-your-own experience, combining a Schneider’s hotdog with freshly baked bread and fully customizable toppings from crisp lettuce and tomatoes to classic ketchup and mustard.

Settling the Sandwich Debate

“People have been debating this for years, but at Subway, we know sandwiches,” said chef John Botelho, the culinary manager at Subway Canada, in a statement. “With the SubDog, we’re not just joining the conversation; we’re settling it. This is a sandwich.”

The SubDog is available at participating Subway restaurants across Canada for a limited time starting Monday. To order, visit a local Subway restaurant or place an order on Subway.com or the Subway app.

Chance to Win Toronto Blue Jays Experience

The launch also coincides with Subway’s ongoing partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays. As part of its summer campaign, Subway Canada is introducing the “Big Swing” Sweepstakes, a national contest created in collaboration with the Toronto Blue Jays.

From Monday to Aug. 31, guests who purchase a SubDog will receive a unique PIN for a chance to win weekly prizes with all entries eligible for a grand prize draw for an exclusive Blue Jays game weekend experience.
