Saskatoon's Grill Station Offers Inclusive, Healthy Flame-Grilled Menu in Sutherland

In the heart of Saskatoon's Sutherland neighborhood, a new culinary destination has emerged with a mission to serve the entire community. Grill Station, opened in late December by husband-and-wife team Kami Sadiq and Saba Kamran, combines railway-themed decor with an exceptionally inclusive menu designed to welcome diners of all backgrounds and dietary preferences.

A Community-Focused Culinary Vision

The couple's journey to opening Grill Station reflects their commitment to community service and culinary excellence. Sadiq, who arrived in Saskatoon from Pakistan two years ago with a background in banking and finance, joined his wife Kamran, who came three years earlier with extensive experience in food and education. Their philanthropic roots run deep—in Pakistan, they regularly provided meals to poor and homeless individuals in their city, while Kamran developed such popular daily menus that they would sell out before preparation even began.

"The entire idea was to cater to the needs of the community and set up a place which is more of a community place," explains Sadiq. "We have an inclusive menu and want to invite everybody. We don't want to turn anybody away for any reason because of their faith, age, or any diet restrictions. If you are a vegetarian you can come here, if you have allergy issues we will try to cater to your needs."

Filling a Market Niche with Healthy Options

Sadiq identified a significant gap in Saskatoon's restaurant scene while speaking with community members. "I've been talking to a lot of people who have a wish for grilled food. There is lots of fried food in restaurants, but personally I am not very fond of fried food. So I saw a niche in that market," he notes. The couple also discovered demand for kosher options and committed to using only premium ingredients throughout their menu.

Located near the Sutherland railway tracks, the restaurant's decor pays homage to its surroundings while the menu offers something genuinely unique to Saskatoon. Kamran emphasizes their dedication to culinary craftsmanship: "All of our recipes for every single burger are very carefully crafted. For the past six months we've spent a fortune making different burgers at home to try different recipes."

Standout Menu Creations

Grill Station's menu features innovative combinations rarely found together outside five-star establishments. "You would not see a Mediterranean Steamline with feta and olive. You would not find pulled chicken and pulled beef burgers with barbecue sauces and all," Kamran points out. Each burger comes with a choice of homemade sauce at no additional cost, adding value to already distinctive offerings.

Among their most popular items is the Grill Station masterpiece burger—a substantial creation featuring three different proteins: a beef patty, pulled beef or chicken, and beef bacon, topped with mozzarella sticks. Customers can select regular, gluten-free, or charcoal buns for any burger, while the pulled meats undergo an extensive 10-12 hour slow-cooking process done entirely in-house.

Health-Conscious Preparation Methods

The restaurant distinguishes itself through its preparation techniques. Unlike typical wing offerings, Grill Station's wings are grilled rather than fried and feature substantial meat portions with minimal skin. "Our wings come with a healthy portion of protein. It's a complete meal," Sadiq emphasizes.

Their grilled chicken breast receives similar meticulous attention. Marinated in-house with herbs, lemons, and oranges before soaking in a special brine, the chicken marinates for four to five hours before grilling. Diners can choose from various homemade sauces with heat levels ranging from mild to extra hot, or opt for a made-to-order butter lemon garlic sauce for those preferring milder flavors.

What truly sets Grill Station apart is its comprehensive approach to dietary inclusivity. The menu accommodates gluten-free, soy-free, vegetarian, and vegan requirements without compromising flavor or quality. This commitment to accessibility, combined with their health-conscious cooking methods and community-oriented philosophy, positions Grill Station as a welcome addition to Saskatoon's dining landscape—a place where everyone can find something delicious and nourishing.
