Three British Columbia restaurants have been recognized on the prestigious North America's 50 Best Restaurants list for 2026, marking a significant achievement for the province's culinary scene.
Published on Main Leads the Way
Vancouver's Published on Main secured the No. 17 spot, climbing from No. 28 in 2025. Chef-partner Gus Stieffenhofer-Brandson expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, "We are honoured and proud to be named to North America's 50 Best Restaurants for the second year in a row." He credited the restaurant's team for their passion and dedication, adding, "Accolades like this keep us going. But most importantly, thank you to our guests for continuing to believe in us."
Other B.C. Restaurants on the List
Two other local establishments also made the list: AnnaLena at No. 35 and Wild Blue in Whistler at No. 47. AnnaLena, located in Vancouver's Kitsilano neighborhood, has been open since 2015 and offers multi-course tasting menus under Chef Mike Robbins. Wild Blue, situated in Whistler, is celebrated for its seafood-forward, locally-inspired cuisine.
Awards Ceremony in New Orleans
The list was announced at an awards ceremony in New Orleans on May 28. The top three spots went to Chicago's Smyth, Calgary's Eight, and Restaurant Pearl Morrissette in Lincoln, Ontario. The awards are in their second year and are determined by votes from 300 anonymous experts, including chefs, restaurateurs, food journalists, and gourmets.
Recognition for B.C. Cuisine
Published on Main, which opened in 2019 at 3593 Main Street, serves dishes inspired by British Columbia's landscape. The recognition highlights the province's growing reputation for exceptional dining. Other Canadian restaurants in Toronto and Montreal also made the list, showcasing the country's diverse culinary talent.
