Windsor Assembly Plant Celebrates Refreshed Chrysler Pacifica

Stellantis celebrated the production of the refreshed 2027 Chrysler Pacifica at the Windsor Assembly Plant on Thursday, with company leaders pointing to the recent launch as evidence of Windsor's role in the automaker's North American plans.

Investment and Milestones

"Obviously we're making a big investment here," Stellantis Canada president Trevor Longley told reporters. The event also recognized another recent milestone for the Windsor Assembly Plant: the Windsor-built Dodge Charger being named the 2026 North American Car of the Year. "These are recent launches that ultimately are built for the long term for us here," said Longley. "We have a lot of faith in Windsor, we have a lot of faith in the people and employees here, and the things we're starting to see are really good signs for production in North America."

Production Tour

Company officials, union leaders, and hundreds of Windsor Assembly Plant workers gathered for the event. Earlier in the day, members of the media toured several stages of Pacifica production, including the framer area where vehicle underbodies and sides are welded together. The tour also stopped by the body shop, where doors, hoods, and liftgates are assembled and inspected for quality. Visitors saw the decking station, where an automated system installs the powertrain, engine, and suspension into the vehicle body, and the IP load station where the instrument panel (including radio, HVAC, navigation, and cluster) is installed into each dashboard. The final stop was the fascia deck, one of the last steps where bumper covers are fitted before the minivan moves on to certification.

Refreshed Features and Pricing

The refreshed Pacifica has received a reimagined exterior, updated interior finishes, expanded technology offerings, and additional safety features. Stellantis also announced price reductions of up to $7,200 on some Pacifica models in Canada. "We need to make sure that we're making the minivan cool again," said Longley. "I frankly think that this is a really compelling visual update ... I think it's really right for the market right now, and for those people with young families."

Best-Selling Minivan

According to Stellantis, the Pacifica remains the best-selling minivan in Canada and the United States and is the only vehicle in its segment to offer standard Stow 'n Go seating and storage in both the second and third rows. "So far this month, the month of May is the first month where we've had all of the models available across our dealer body throughout Canada and the United States," said Matt McAlear, CEO of Chrysler and Dodge brands. "We have seen month-over-month growth since launching. We continue to see tremendous feedback."

Historic Plant

The Windsor Assembly Plant has produced Chrysler minivans since 1984. More than 16.6 million minivans have been sold globally during that time, with the vast majority assembled in Windsor. More than 1.15 million Pacificas have been built at the plant over the past decade alone. "Today's a great day," said McAlear. "This plant has such a tradition celebrating over 100 years. The same with the Chrysler brand, over 100 years, and we're just getting started."
