Ottawa's Perley Health long-term care home recently honored more than 20 of its residents who have reached the remarkable age of 100 years or older, celebrating them as members of the prestigious 'Century Club.' The event, held on June 10, 2026, recognized the longevity and life experiences of these centenarians.
A Celebration of Longevity
The Century Club at Perley Health is a special group that includes residents who have lived for a century or more. Among those celebrated were Rolan Lalonde and Lucille Lane, two of the facility's oldest members. The gathering featured speeches, cake, and a sense of community as staff, families, and fellow residents paid tribute to the honorees.
Honoring Life Stories
Each member of the Century Club has a unique story, having witnessed nearly a hundred years of history. Perley Health staff emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions and wisdom of these seniors. 'They are a living testament to resilience and the value of community care,' said a spokesperson for the facility.
The event also served as a reminder of the growing number of centenarians in Canada and the need for specialized care and support for this age group. Perley Health continues to provide a nurturing environment for its residents, ensuring they live their later years with dignity and joy.
