The Edmonton Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in identifying a person of interest connected to an arson that occurred in the Garneau area on March 19. The incident took place at a residence under construction near 108 Street and 85 Avenue, where a fire was reported at approximately 11:50 a.m.
Upon arrival, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) found the home engulfed in flames. The fire ultimately destroyed the structure, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. After a thorough investigation, EFRS determined that the fire was deliberately set. The blaze also caused significant damage to neighboring homes and vehicles, with the total damage to the under-construction residence estimated at over $1 million.
Investigation Details
Police have stated that they do not believe this fire is connected to any previous infill or extortion fires in the area. However, surveillance footage from nearby cameras captured an individual of interest whom authorities wish to speak with in connection to the incident.
