Animal Control Investigates Dog Attack That Injured Child in Regina

Animal control officers are investigating a dog attack that left a nine-year-old child injured in the North Central neighbourhood of Regina. The Regina Police Service reported that the dog involved remains in the custody of animal control as of Friday.

Incident Details

According to a news release issued on Friday, officers patrolling near 6th Avenue and Garnet Street at approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday were approached by two children who claimed they had been attacked by a dog. The children also reported witnessing the same dog attack another dog in a nearby yard. One of the children had visible wounds to their face at the time they spoke with officers.

Paramedics transported the nine-year-old child to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the release stated.

Investigation Underway

Police and animal control officers located the dog at a nearby residence in the area. The dog remains in the custody of animal control, which is actively investigating the incident with assistance from the police.
