Hyderabad-based Sai Life Sciences Limited, a prominent global Contract Research, Development, and Manufacturing Organization (CRDMO), has officially launched its comprehensive Sustainability Report for the 2024–25 fiscal period. The report, the company's sixth such publication, was released on December 19, 2025.
A Framework for Responsible Growth
The document is structured according to rigorous international benchmarks, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Universal Standards 2021 and guidelines from the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). Centered on the theme “Driving climate action, deepening stakeholder trust,” the report outlines a strategic model built on nine core pillars. These pillars encompass water stewardship, climate initiatives, circular economy practices, biodiversity, sustainable procurement, human capital development, governance, community engagement, and customer collaboration.
Krishna Kanumuri, Managing Director and CEO of Sai Life Sciences, emphasized the company's foundational philosophy. “Reliability with responsibility is central to the CRDMO mandate and deeply embedded in how we operate,” stated Kanumuri. He noted that the past year's efforts have focused on translating commitment into measurable action across climate, circular economy, human resources, and innovation.
Tangible Progress on Environmental and Social Goals
The report provides concrete data on the company's advancement toward its self-defined Sustainable Development Goals, with a target deadline of March 31, 2027. Key environmental achievements highlighted include:
- A significant increase in renewable energy consumption, with 96% of the power used at its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing unit in Bidar now sourced from renewables.
- Measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and specific water consumption across its operational facilities.
On the social impact front, Sai Life Sciences reported surpassing a major community commitment. The company has now provided education and livelihood opportunities for more than 8,000 individuals from underprivileged backgrounds, exceeding its initial goal. Internally, the organization continues to build a diverse workforce, with women now representing 14% of all employees.
Building a Resilient Future
Looking forward, the company describes sustainability as both a compass and a catalyst for its expansion. The report frames Sai Life Sciences' long-term vision as one that integrates science, responsibility, and collaboration to create a resilient and future-ready operating model. This approach is designed to deliver enduring value to its global network of partners and stakeholders as the CRDMO continues to grow its international presence.
