Calgary police are investigating after a man allegedly exposed himself to students during morning recess outside a southwest Calgary elementary school on Tuesday.
Incident Details
Police say officers responded to reports of an unknown man allegedly exposing himself to a group of students outside Braeside School, located at 1747 107 Ave. S.W., at around 10 a.m. Tuesday.
“The students notified school staff who contacted police,” the Calgary Police Service said in an emailed statement. “The students are safe and officers are actively investigating and working with the school to confirm information and details, including a suspect description.”
School Response
In an email to families obtained by Postmedia Calgary, Braeside School said a man approached students who were playing in the schoolyard, “reached out” to a student and exposed himself before leaving the area.
The school said it is working directly with the affected families. According to the notice, the school requested a police presence near the grounds during the lunch period and planned to have increased supervision for outdoor activities.
“In consultation with CPS they have recommended we continue to operate as normally as possible,” the notice reads. “We are continuing outdoor activities with additional supervision.”
Investigation Ongoing
Police said more information will be released as details are confirmed. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has doorbell camera footage near the school to contact police.
Braeside School teaches Grades 1 to 6. The Calgary Board of Education did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
