12 Injured Including 10 Youth at Cultus Lake Waterpark

Emergency crews responded to Cultus Lake Waterpark on Monday after an incident left a dozen people injured, including 10 youth and two adults. Chilliwack RCMP confirmed that none of the youth were small children.

Incident Details

According to Cpl. Carmen Kiener of the Chilliwack RCMP, first responders were dispatched to the waterpark at 11:20 a.m. All injured parties are reported to be in stable condition with serious injuries and are being transported to hospitals for further medical treatment. Police remain on scene as the investigation unfolds.

Emergency Response

B.C. Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) confirmed they were called just after 11 a.m. about an incident in the 4100-block Columbia Valley Road in Chilliwack. Multiple resources were deployed, including several ambulances with primary care paramedics, an ambulance and response unit with advanced care paramedics, two air ambulances with critical care paramedics, a link and referral unit, a paramedic supervisor, and an area manager.

Paramedics provided emergency medical care to a total of 12 patients. Two were transported to hospital by air ambulance, and ten others were transported by ground ambulance.

Community Impact

Roads leading into the area were closed Monday morning to allow first responders access but were reopened shortly after half past noon. Calls to the Cultus Lake Waterpark front office were unsuccessful, with a recorded message stating the phone line was unavailable.

A receptionist at the Chilliwack School District confirmed that no area schools had visited Cultus Lake Waterpark on Monday. June is typically a busy time for field trips to the waterpark.
