Edmonton police have charged a Mill Woods massage therapist with sexual assault following a complaint from a woman who reported being touched in a sexual manner during a therapy session in June.
Incident at Bamboo Wellness
According to a news release from the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) on Tuesday, the alleged assault occurred at Bamboo Wellness, located near 34 Avenue and 97 Street. Julio Uribe, 36, was charged on June 10 with one count of sexual assault.
Police stated that they believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who may have had a similar experience to come forward. Support services are available for those affected by sexual violence through local organizations or the EPS.
Release Conditions
Uribe was released from custody with conditions, including no contact with the complainant and a prohibition from attending his workplace.
Recent Cases in Edmonton
This is the third case in the past two years involving an Edmonton massage therapist charged with sexual assault. In December 2025, Christian Zeus Cabillan, 42, was charged after a woman reported an assault at a clinic in the Oliver neighbourhood. Additional complaints led to two more charges. In November 2024, Pepito Manalo, 55, faced a charge after a woman alleged inappropriate touching during a massage at a Mill Woods physiotherapy clinic; further complaints resulted in four charges. Also in November 2024, Satish Poojari was charged with four counts of sexual assault at his South Edmonton practice.
The greater Edmonton region is home to approximately 1,600 massage therapists.
