Annual Care-A-Thon Kicks Off
Sudbury's hospice care receives a boost as the local radio station Pure Country teams up with the hospice for their annual fundraising marathon, the Pure Country Care-A-Thon. The event, now in its ongoing tradition, aims to raise essential funds to support palliative care services in the region.
Community Rallying for Hospice
The marathon brings together listeners, businesses, and volunteers to donate and participate in activities throughout the day. According to organizers, every dollar raised goes directly to enhancing comfort and care for patients and their families facing end-of-life challenges.
“This partnership is vital for sustaining our programs,” said a hospice spokesperson. “The community’s generosity ensures we can provide compassionate care when it’s needed most.”
Impact on Local Care
The funds from previous Care-A-Thons have supported equipment upgrades, specialized training for staff, and expanded respite services. This year’s goal is to exceed last year’s total of $150,000, with early donations already showing strong momentum.
Listeners can contribute online or at designated drop-off points, with incentives such as prize draws for donors. The marathon also features live interviews with patients and healthcare workers to highlight the importance of hospice care.
How to Get Involved
Pure Country will broadcast live from the hospice grounds, encouraging on-site donations and community engagement. The event runs from early morning until evening, with updates on social media using the hashtag #CareAThon.
“Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference,” added the spokesperson. “We are grateful for the ongoing support from Pure Country and the Sudbury community.”
