Ontario Grants $1.2M for Erie Shores Healthcare Upgrades

The Ontario government has announced a grant of $1,208,661 for Erie Shores Healthcare to fund upgrades and repairs at the Leamington hospital. The funding was revealed on Friday by MPP Trevor Jones (PC – Chatham-Kent-Leamington) as part of a larger $4,737,932 investment that also includes $3,529,271 for Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Investment Details and Purpose

According to a statement from MPP Jones, the investment will help both hospitals address priority infrastructure needs. “Our local hospitals are essential to the health and well-being of our communities,” Jones said. “This investment of more than $4.7 million will help ensure Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and Erie Shores HealthCare can continue providing safe, high-quality care close to home. I am proud to see our government investing in the infrastructure that supports patients, families, and frontline health-care workers across Chatham-Kent–Leamington.”

Broader Provincial Context

The funding is part of Ontario’s broader investment of over $266 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund. This province-wide initiative supports infrastructure upgrades, maintenance, and repairs at 126 hospitals across Ontario. Minister of Health Sylvia Jones emphasized the government’s commitment to healthcare infrastructure. “Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Chatham-Kent-Leamington can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” she said. “This investment will enable CKHA and ESHC to address priority infrastructure needs so patients and their families can continue to access vital services and care in their community.”
