MRI Services Coming to South Shore Regional Hospital
Nova Scotia Health has announced that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services will soon be available at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater. The new service aims to improve access to diagnostic imaging for residents of the South Shore region, reducing the need for travel to Halifax for scans.
The hospital will undergo renovations to accommodate the MRI suite, with the service expected to be operational by early 2027. Health officials say the addition will help reduce wait times for MRIs across the province and provide more equitable access to advanced medical imaging.
“This is a significant investment in healthcare for the South Shore,” said a spokesperson for Nova Scotia Health. “Patients will no longer have to travel long distances for this essential diagnostic tool.”
The announcement is part of a broader provincial strategy to expand diagnostic services in rural and regional hospitals, ensuring that specialized care is available closer to home.
