Cancer Survivor Annick Rauch Prepares for First Manitoba Marathon
Cancer Survivor to Run First Manitoba Marathon

Winnipeg cancer survivor Annick Rauch is preparing to run her first Manitoba Marathon. The 42-year-old mother of two was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022 and underwent treatment including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Now cancer-free, Rauch decided to take on the marathon challenge as a way to celebrate her recovery and give back to the community.

Training Journey

Rauch began training in January, gradually building up her endurance. She runs five days a week, often early in the morning before her children wake up. She credits her family and friends for their support, as well as her running group, which keeps her motivated.

“Running has been a huge part of my healing process,” Rauch said. “It gives me a sense of control and accomplishment. Crossing the finish line will be a milestone for me.”

Fundraising for Cancer Research

In addition to running, Rauch is raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. She has already collected over $5,000 through online donations and local events. Her goal is to raise $10,000 by race day.

“I want to turn my experience into something positive,” she said. “Every dollar brings us closer to a cure.”

Race Day Details

The Manitoba Marathon takes place on June 21, starting at the University of Manitoba. The full marathon course runs through Winnipeg’s scenic neighborhoods and along the Red River. Rauch will be among thousands of participants running for various causes.

“I’m nervous but excited,” she admitted. “I’ve trained hard and I’m ready to give it my all.”

Rauch’s story has inspired many in the cancer community. Her determination to overcome adversity and her commitment to helping others serve as a powerful example of resilience.
