Thunder Bay Police have charged a 50-year-old man with multiple child sex abuse offenses following an investigation into online luring and sexual extortion of minors. The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed, allegedly posed as a teenage boy on social media platforms to gain the trust of young victims.

The man faces charges including luring a child, making child pornography, and extortion. Police believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The investigation began after a parent reported suspicious online activity involving their child.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Thompson stated, 'This case highlights the dangers of online predators who exploit anonymity to target vulnerable youth. We encourage parents to monitor their children's online activities and report any suspicious behavior.'
The accused is scheduled to appear in court next week. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
