Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a man in connection with a child luring investigation, utilizing GPS technology to track the suspect. The arrest occurred on May 7, 2026, following a tip from the public.
Details of the Investigation
Police allege the suspect communicated with a minor online and arranged a meeting. Officers used GPS data from the suspect's vehicle to intercept him before the meeting could take place. The suspect, a 34-year-old man from Kitchener, faces charges of luring a child and breach of probation.
Detective Sergeant Mark Crowell of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Internet Child Exploitation Unit stated, "This arrest demonstrates our commitment to protecting children and using all available technologies to apprehend offenders."
