A 40-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with voyeurism after police allege he used hidden recording devices to capture videos of unsuspecting individuals in private settings over a span of 17 years.
Allegations span nearly two decades
Hamilton Police say they were contacted on Saturday after a witness allegedly discovered video recordings. A preliminary review revealed multiple recordings depicting individuals in private settings without their knowledge or consent, police said in a statement released Wednesday.
Investigators believe the videos were captured using hidden recording devices placed in locations where individuals had a reasonable expectation of privacy. The recordings are believed to date from 2007 to 2025.
Suspect identified and arrested
As a result of the investigation, Jason Machado, 40, of Hamilton, was identified and arrested. He faces three counts of voyeurism.
Police have seized multiple electronic devices, which are currently undergoing forensic examination. The investigation remains ongoing.

Investigators have not yet identified all individuals depicted in the videos. They are concerned about the possibility of additional alleged victims and have released a photo of the accused in an effort to identify anyone who may have been affected.
