A British Columbia woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for sexually abusing an autistic teenage girl and posting videos of the abuse online. Siobhan Kirby, 36, pleaded guilty to charges including making child sexual abuse material, sexual exploitation, and arranging a sexual offence against a child.
Details of the Abuse
According to court proceedings, Kirby coerced and encouraged the victim, a 16-year-old autistic girl, to engage in sexual activities over a period of nearly a year. Many of these acts were recorded and uploaded to Pornhub, where they were viewed hundreds of thousands of times. The victim's face was clearly visible in some videos, aggravating the severity of the crime.
Victim Impact
The victim's mother reported that her daughter now suffers from complex post-traumatic stress disorder, experiencing flashbacks, nightmares, and difficulty sleeping. In a victim impact statement, the girl said, 'I was a child who looked up to the offender as a trusted adult role model... That trust was violated in a way that has had serious and lasting consequences for me.'
Additional Offences
The court heard that Kirby also acted as a pimp, trading the girl for drugs with a dealer on at least one occasion. Ten other charges, including sexual assault and trafficking a person under 18, were stayed. Judge Daniel Loucks noted the victim was a 'particularly vulnerable young person' who had formed a trauma bond with Kirby.
Background of the Offender
Kirby worked in the sex industry from 2019 to 2023, including as an escort and a Pornhub content creator. Her lawyer stated that she began using methamphetamine daily in 2022, which led to poor decision-making. Kirby appeared in court via video link and expressed willingness to write a letter of apology.
Sentencing and Registration
In addition to the six-year prison term, Kirby must register as a sex offender for 20 years under the Sex Offender Information Registration Act. The videos have been removed from Pornhub, but the court noted the permanent nature of internet content.
