Green Water Runoff in Windsor During Enwin Testing

Residents of Windsor may notice green water runoff in certain areas over the next few days, but there is no cause for alarm. Enwin Utilities announced it will begin routine pressure testing near Langlois Avenue and Grand Marais Road East as part of the Windsor Utilities Commission’s Central Corridor Feedermain project.

Testing Details and Safety Measures

According to Enwin, the testing is necessary to ensure new watermain infrastructure meets the highest safety standards before entering service. Crews will use a non-toxic food-grade dye during the process. The dye is internationally certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF).

“Consequently, nearby drainage areas may appear green from the non-toxic dye used for testing,” stated a news release from Enwin. “This controlled process helps verify pipe integrity and deliver safe, reliable drinking water to Windsor residents.”

No Impact on Drinking Water

The pressure testing will be contained within the new feedermain infrastructure and will have no connection to the active drinking water supply. Enwin confirmed it will perform a full system flush and retest before the infrastructure goes into service.

“Enwin thanks residents for their patience during this important infrastructure upgrade,” the agency said. “The Central Corridor Feedermain project strengthens Windsor’s drinking water system for continued reliable service.”
