Gatineau water main break: 45,000 under boil-water advisory

The City of Gatineau issued a boil-water advisory for an estimated 45,000 residents and urged water conservation following a major water main break on Rue Saint-Louis on Friday, June 20, 2026.

Water usage restrictions in effect

In a news release Saturday, the city asked residents in the Gatineau, Hull, and Aylmer sectors to reduce water consumption. Authorities warned that reduced water pressure and brief service interruptions may occur in these areas.

Residents are encouraged to limit laundry, dishwasher use, watering lawns, washing vehicles, and filling pools until further notice.
