The Elora Gorge Conservation Area officially launches its tubing season on Saturday, June 27, 2026, offering a popular summer activity for families and adventurers. The season runs through Labour Day, with daily operations from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.
Safety and Capacity Regulations
Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) officials emphasize that all tubers must wear a properly fitted life jacket at all times while on the water. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The river's flow rate is monitored daily, and tubing may be suspended during high water conditions.
Capacity is limited to 1,200 tubers per day to ensure safety and reduce overcrowding. Visitors are encouraged to book online in advance through the GRCA website. The cost is $12 per person for a single trip, plus a $5 tube rental fee. Parking is available for $15 per vehicle.
River Conditions and Warnings
According to GRCA spokesperson Lisa Stocco, “The Grand River is running at normal levels for this time of year, but we remind everyone that the gorge has deep pools and swift currents. Stay within designated areas and follow all posted signs.”
In 2025, the GRCA reported zero fatalities during tubing season, a record attributed to enhanced safety patrols and mandatory life jacket enforcement. However, there were 12 rescues, mostly due to visitors ignoring barrier warnings near the gorge's cliff edges.
Facilities and Amenities
The Elora Gorge Conservation Area offers picnic areas, washrooms, and a concession stand. Glass containers and alcohol are prohibited. The park also features hiking trails and a campground for overnight stays. The tubing route covers approximately 3.5 kilometers of the Grand River, taking about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.
GRCA reminds visitors that the river temperature averages 18°C in June, and wetsuits are recommended for extended periods in the water. Lockers are available for personal belongings, as items can get wet.
