Monday and Tuesday Forecast

Environment Canada reported Monday's high was expected to reach 29°C but feel like 32°C with the humidex, with mostly sunny skies and a mix of clouds. There was a 40% chance of showers overnight with a risk of thunderstorms. By Tuesday, humidity intensifies with a high of 32°C feeling like 41°C with the humidex, along with a mix of sun and cloud and a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorm risk. Winds will become southwesterly at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h late in the morning.

Canada Day Heat

On Canada Day, July 1, the high is forecast at 35°C with a mix of sun and clouds, feeling like 43°C with the humidex, and a 30% chance of showers at night. Highs in the low to mid-30s will continue Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Relief finally arrives Sunday with a high of 28°C.

Public Safety Measures

Toronto police announced a significant presence for Canada Day celebrations. Superintendent Dave Correa stated, “There will be a significant police presence in the area, including officers on foot, bicycles, ATVs, and horseback. Bylaw officers will also be on site throughout the day and evening. Our focus will be public safety. We will be monitoring crowd dynamics, their activities, keeping emergency routes clear and responding to any issues that may arise. Unsafe or unlawful behaviour will not be tolerated.” Large crowds are expected, particularly for the city's fireworks display at Ashbridge's Bay.
