Ontario Provincial Police officers rescued two individuals who became stranded after driving their pickup truck off Highway 17 onto a flooded roadway near Sault Ste. Marie. The incident occurred earlier this week when the vehicle veered into deep water, forcing the occupants to climb onto the roof for safety.
Rescue Operation Details
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the truck almost completely submerged, with the two people perched on the roof. Using specialized equipment, OPP officers safely brought both individuals to dry land. No injuries were reported.
The OPP reminded drivers to avoid flooded roads and never attempt to drive through standing water, as road conditions can be deceptive and dangerous.
