Sindbad Mentoring Wins F1 Allwyn Global Community Award, Secures €100,000
Sindbad Mentoring Wins F1 Allwyn Award, Gets €100,000

Sindbad Mentoring has been named the winner of the F1 Allwyn Global Community Award at the Formula 1 Lenovo Austrian Grand Prix 2026, receiving a €100,000 donation from Allwyn to combat educational inequality and expand its mentoring programs across Austria and Germany.

Award Ceremony at Austrian Grand Prix

The non-profit organization was honored on June 25, 2026, in Spielberg, Austria, where Barbara Krainer and Julia Unterberger accepted the trophy. The award, now in its second year, recognizes community initiatives that create lasting societal impact.

Allwyn, a lottery-led entertainment company, funds the award to support grassroots organizations addressing critical social issues. The €100,000 prize will enable Sindbad to scale its one-to-one mentoring model, focusing on STEM education and career pathways for young people from underrepresented backgrounds.

Addressing Educational Inequality

Many disadvantaged youth lack access to professional networks, role models, and career guidance, hindering social mobility. According to Sindbad Mentoring, this results in a "massive pool of potential talent being overlooked," particularly in sectors like STEM, manufacturing, and green technology.

Operating across Austria and newly expanded into Germany, Sindbad connects teenagers aged 13 to 19 with long-term personal mentors. Since its founding in 2019, the program has engaged 8,400 young people across Austria, helping them build confidence, belonging, and career insights.

Impact and Expansion Plans

Allwyn's donation will support Sindbad's growth in Graz, where it aims to mentor an additional 35 young people with a stronger emphasis on STEM and motorsport-related careers. The judging panel praised the program's ability to "create lasting impact, delivering enduring societal benefit through sustained youth development."

Mentoring, the panel noted, builds vital self-esteem and character, providing a critical support network for educational and career decisions that participants may not receive from their immediate families or communities.

Second Year of the Award

Sindbad Mentoring is the second recipient of the F1 Allwyn Global Community Award in 2026. The first award was presented in June at the Formula 1 Lenovo Grand Prix du Canada to La Tablée des Chefs, a Canadian charity fighting food insecurity by recovering and redistributing meals to vulnerable families.

More non-governmental organizations will be recognized at upcoming Grand Prix races this season, including the Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix 2026. Later this year, Formula 1 fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite initiatives as part of Allwyn's plan to engage the fan community with the program.
