Regina Hailstorm Caused Over $100M in Damages: SGI Report
Regina Hailstorm Damages Exceed $100M: SGI

Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) has reported that the severe hailstorm that struck Regina on June 9, 2026, caused over $100 million in damages. As of June 25, more than 13,000 auto claims and 800 property claims have been filed, with auto claims alone exceeding $100 million and property claims adding over $9 million.

SGI Mobilizes Appraisal Blitzes

In response to the overwhelming volume of claims, SGI is holding appraisal blitzes over the next few weekends at the Regina Commercial Claims Centre on Fleet Street. The first blitz on June 20 processed 900 auto claims. All appraisals require an appointment after a claim has been filed.

Jeremy Harrison, the minister responsible for SGI, thanked staff for their efforts: “I want to extend my thanks to the appraisers, adjusters and other support staff at SGI who are working diligently to help everyone complete their claim as quickly as possible.”

Claims Processing and Patience Urged

SGI advises customers to be patient, as the high volume may lead to longer wait times for assessments despite additional resources. When filing a claim, an adjuster will determine the best option for estimating damage—through a partner body shop, a paintless dent repair facility, or SGI directly.

Auto claims can be filed online via MySGI.ca, by phone at 1-844-TLK-2SGI (1-844-855-2744), or in person at any SGI claims centre. For windshield damage severe enough to make the vehicle unsafe to drive, SGI allows immediate replacement without waiting for an appraisal. Customers should photograph the damage and keep the receipt for the adjuster.

Property Claims and Documentation

For property claims, residents should contact their insurance broker to file a claim, understand coverage, and learn next steps. SGI emphasizes documenting all damage with photos or videos before cleaning up or disposing of debris and damaged items.
