The fire danger rating was raised from 'high' to 'very high' due to sustained temperatures above 30°C and humidity levels exceeding 60%. Officials noted that while June saw above-average precipitation, the recent heatwave has quickly dried out grasses and forests.
Fire Chief Michael Thompson stated, "The recent hot and humid weather has significantly increased the fire risk. We ask everyone to avoid any activities that could spark a fire, such as campfires or discarding cigarettes improperly."
