The Royal Canadian Mounted Police has announced the winners of its 2026 Name the Foal contest, revealing nine names chosen for the newest additions to the RCMP horse breeding farm in Pakenham, Ontario.
Winning Names and Their Creators
Canadian children aged 14 and younger, both individually and as part of classroom groups, submitted entries from across the country. The winning names, listed alphabetically, are:
- Cadence – Kinsley, age 8, North Vancouver, British Columbia
- Cadet – Norah, age 10, Gander, Newfoundland
- Canada – Victor Sammurtok School (grades 3 and 4, Teacher Eda Martinovic), Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut
- Canuck – Sadie, age 12, Victoria, British Columbia
- Chinook – Jerrett, age 11, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories
- Citadel – Raphael, age 10, Shannon, Quebec
- Clover – Daphne, age 14, Ottawa, Ontario
- Crimson – Anderson, age 5, Fredericton, New Brunswick
- Cruiser – Harlyn, age 4, Brandon, Manitoba
Prizes for Winners
Each contest winner will receive a 2026 Musical Ride horseshoe, a photograph of the foal they named, and a certificate personally signed by RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme.
About the RCMP Horse Breeding Program
The RCMP has been breeding its own horses for more than 80 years and is internationally recognized for producing some of the finest horses in Canada. The foals named through this contest will eventually become part of the world-famous Musical Ride.
