One of the people pulled from the water after a boat sank in the Strait of Georgia last week has died, bringing the total death toll to five, authorities confirmed Tuesday. The sunken fishing vessel was also located by search crews.
Victim Identified, Search Continues
The deceased was among several individuals rescued from the water following the July 1 incident. The victim's identity has not been released pending family notification. One person remains missing as search operations continue, though officials have scaled back efforts.
According to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria, the boat was discovered on the seafloor at a depth of approximately 90 meters. The vessel, a 12-meter commercial fishing boat, had been missing since it failed to return to port.
