Julia Louis-Dreyfus announced on Tuesday that she will make her Broadway debut in a revival of Other Desert Cities. Although she did not reveal the news personally, she shared a promotional post on her Instagram account.
Promotional Campaign Highlights Star-Studded Cast
The Instagram post hypes the "once in a generation cast" and begins with the tagline: "Every family has a secret. Not every family survives it."
Several media outlets had already reported the news prior to the official announcement. The play revolves around a politically conservative family, with Louis-Dreyfus portraying the matriarch. The story unfolds during a Christmas celebration in Palm Springs, where the daughter returns home to announce she has written a tell-all memoir, according to Variety.
Performance Schedule and Venue
Previews begin on September 29 at the Hudson Theatre, with opening night set for October 18, officially starting the limited engagement. The run concludes on January 17, 2027, as reported by Playbill.
Louis-Dreyfus, renowned for her roles on Veep and Seinfeld, recently attended the Cannes Film Festival to promote her voice role in the animated Alzheimer's film Tangles.
Recent Appearances and Farewell to Stephen Colbert
She also participated in a humorous farewell to Late Show host Stephen Colbert. During one of the final episodes, the Sheep Detectives star transformed into her Veep character Selina Meyer and quipped to Colbert: "Your cancellation gave Donald Trump so much pleasure, I always think of you as the Stormy Daniels of late night."
HuffPost reached out to Louis-Dreyfus's representative for comment but did not receive a response.
