Arkells Return to Small Venues for Vancouver Trio of Intimate Shows
Arkells Return to Small Venues for Vancouver Shows

Arkells frontman Max Kerman is thrilled to bring new music to fans in small venues that the nine-time Juno Award-winning group left behind long ago. The Hamilton, Ontario band announced its Between Us City Takeovers for British Columbia and Alberta, featuring three shows in Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary at iconic rooms they played on their rise to becoming one of Canada's most reliable live rock groups.

Vancouver Shows and Ticket Info

Arkells bring their catchy singalong songs to Vancouver on May 7 at The Penthouse, May 8 at the Hollywood Theatre, and May 9 at the Commodore Ballroom. All three shows are sold out. Verified resale tickets for the Hollywood gig start at $154.70 at Ticketmaster.ca.

Memories of Early Days

Kerman recalled the band's first Vancouver show at The Penthouse for a festival called New Music West. They were stuck in traffic from Kelowna and arrived just minutes before showtime. He noted the brass pole in the middle of the stage, a quirky memory that stuck with him. The band looks forward to reliving that experience in a more relaxed setting.

Fans should not expect a stripped-down acoustic set. The performances will still feature the high-powered energy that built Arkells' reputation, though without the Northern Soul Horns this time. Kerman emphasized that each night will be a unique experience, allowing the band to avoid repetitive set lists and find new dynamics.

New Music and Set Lists

Given the strength of three singles already released from Between Us, the set lists will highlight new tracks alongside fan favorites like Leather Jacket, Come to Light, and 11:11. Songs like Next Summer, What Good?, and Money (featuring Portugal. The Man) are equally strong.

Kerman believes smaller venues are ideal for introducing new music, as audiences can connect with songs before they become arena staples. The 11 new tracks on Between Us feature a '90s-style production with heavy keyboards reminiscent of Hall & Oates and driving beats, starting with the memorable opener Next Summer.
