Megadeth Announces Edmonton Farewell Tour with Anthrax & Exodus
Megadeth Farewell Tour Hits Edmonton Feb. 21

Edmonton metal fans received thrilling news this week as legendary thrash pioneers Megadeth announced they are coming to Rogers Place as part of what the band is calling their "farewell tour." The highly anticipated concert is scheduled for February 21, promising an unforgettable night of heavy metal history.

A Powerhouse Metal Lineup

The concert is more than just a solo performance; it's a full-scale metal showcase. Megadeth will be joined by two other giants of the genre: the iconic Anthrax and the influential Exodus. This triple-headliner event ensures a night of relentless riffs and pounding drums that will resonate through downtown Edmonton.

Frontman Dave Mustaine, whose distinctive voice has defined the band's sound for decades, has humorously suggested this farewell run could last three to five years, giving fans ample opportunity to witness the band's final chapter. Formed after Mustaine's departure from Metallica, Megadeth solidified its place as one of the "Big Four" of American thrash metal, alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax.

Megadeth's Enduring Legacy

With a career spanning over four decades, Megadeth has left an indelible mark on the music world. The band has sold an estimated 50 million albums worldwide across 16 studio releases. Fans at the Rogers Place show can expect to hear classics that have become anthems of the genre, including Symphony of Destruction, Hangar 18, and Peace Sells.

The current lineup features Mustaine on vocals and guitar, supported by Teemu Mäntysaari on guitar, James LoMenzo on bass, and Dirk Verbeuren on drums. The band is also preparing to release what is hinted to be their final album on January 23, which will reportedly include a reimagined version of Ride the Lightning—a song Mustaine originally co-wrote with his former Metallica bandmates.

Igloofest Brings Electronic Beats to Fan Park

In a completely different but equally exciting musical announcement, Edmonton's Ice District will also host the Canadian electronic music festival Igloofest. The touring festival, which originated in Montreal's Old Port in 2007, is making its way to Fan Park outside Rogers Place from March 12 to 14.

The three-night event features a stellar lineup of electronic music headliners. Alison Wonderland will kick off the festivities on Thursday, followed by Disclosure on Friday, and the iconic deadmau5 closing the weekend on Saturday. Known for its vibrant, winter-ready atmosphere where attendees dance the cold away in their warmest gear, Igloofest adds a unique and frosty flavor to Edmonton's spring entertainment calendar.

How to Get Your Tickets

For metalheads, the wait for tickets is almost over. General admission tickets for the Megadeth concert go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday through the official website, megadeth.com.

Similarly, tickets and passes for the Igloofest Edmonton experience will also become available at 10 a.m. on Friday via igloofest.ca.

These two major announcements underscore a massive year for live music in Edmonton, joining already-revealed shows from rock titans like AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, and Foo Fighters, making 2026 a standout year for concert-goers in the city.
