Guess Who and Don Felder Rock Toronto Reunion Concert

The Guess Who and Don Felder Turn Back the Clock in Toronto

Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings, the iconic duo behind The Guess Who, performed together under the band's original name for the first time in 23 years at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday night. The concert, which also featured Eagles guitarist Don Felder, was a celebration of classic rock history and Canadian music heritage.

Cummings, 78, recalled their first shows in Toronto back in 1967, when the Royal York Hotel dominated the skyline. Almost six decades later, the Winnipeg-born songwriters reunited professionally as The Guess Who after years of legal battles to reclaim their name. They had been touring as Bachman-Cummings for the past two decades.

The nearly two-hour show blended history lessons with rock anthems, as the duo shared stories behind their classic songs. Cummings humorously noted that their hit "These Eyes" was written on a ferry ride from Victoria to Vancouver, earning them a gold record in the U.S. — the first for a Canadian band — presented by Dick Clark.

The set opened with the instrumental "969 (The Oldest Man)" from their 1970 album American Woman, featuring a flute solo by Cummings. He later revisited the flute during "Undun," prompting Bachman to cheer, "Let's hear it for the flute solo!"

BTO Hits Steal the Show

Bachman Turner Overdrive classics like "Let It Ride," "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet," and the closing "Takin' Care of Business" were met with roaring approval, rivaling the reception for The Guess Who's own hits. Standout Guess Who songs included "American Woman," which brought the crowd to its feet after a long intro blending The Doors' "Roadhouse Blues," as well as "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" and "No Time" — the latter called Bachman's "absolute favourite."

The encore featured "Share the Land," written by Cummings during his "hippie days," followed by "Takin' Care of Business." Cummings' solo track "My Own Way to Rock" also delighted fans, showcasing his energetic piano playing despite a more reedy vocal tone.

The Guess Who band included guitarists-vocalists Tim Bovaconti and Joe Augello, bassist-vocalist Jeff Jones, drummer-vocalist Sean Fitzsimons, and percussionist-vocalist Nick Sinopoli.

Don Felder Opens with Eagles Classics

Don Felder, 78, a former Eagles guitarist for 27 years, delivered a solid 45-minute opening set. His performance highlighted his signature guitar solos on classics like "One of These Nights" and "Hotel California," for which he wielded a double-necked guitar. His three-piece band also delivered sweet harmonies on "Seven Bridges Road."
