Ben Calhoun Collaborates with Mission Aviation Fellowship for New Single Release
Acclaimed Christian country music songwriter and frontman of Citizen Way, Ben Calhoun, has announced a significant partnership with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) for the release of his new single titled "Lift My Eyes." The track is scheduled to debut on March 27, 2026, and aims to inspire bold faith in action through its powerful message and aviation-themed backdrop.
Inspiring Faith Through Aviation Missions
Created in collaboration with MAF, "Lift My Eyes" uses the organization's global aviation missions as a metaphor to challenge listeners to respond to divine calling in their own lives. Calhoun hopes the song will serve as a catalyst for mobilizing people toward Gospel-centered action, particularly in support of remote communities worldwide.
The journey toward the single's release began on February 28, 2026, with a dedicated podcast feature exploring Calhoun's mission-driven roots. This was followed by a special episode of "Cockpit Karaoke," a unique music session filmed mid-flight on an MAF aircraft. The episode provides an intimate, high-altitude look at Calhoun's creative process and his commitment to faith-based service.
Personal Inspiration Behind the Music
Calhoun's inspiration for the song stems from a transformative visit to MAF's headquarters in Idaho, where he viewed the historic plane of missionaries Nate Saint and Jim Elliot. This experience deeply moved him, highlighting the critical role MAF plays in reaching isolated regions.
"We live in a world that is more connected than ever, yet there are still places where a simple infection is a death sentence because there is no road out," Calhoun remarked. "When I saw footage of children running toward an MAF plane, I realized the incredible hope MAF brings to these cut-off communities."
MAF's Perspective on the Collaboration
Nicole Victory, Head of Artist Engagement for MAF, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. "In working alongside Ben, I saw his deep-seated desire to not only shine a light on the millions of people who are often overlooked but to create a bridge between faith and action," she said. "Our hope is that this song inspires people to act—to do what God has called them to do, whether in our own communities or a remote village."
Calhoun's Songwriting Philosophy
The new track embodies Calhoun's "Three S" songwriting philosophy: scriptural, singable, and simple. By focusing on these elements, he aims to craft a universal message that resonates with both regular churchgoers and those seeking a deeper spiritual connection. One of the song's poignant lines, "Every mountain is just another way to see how you move them," reflects Calhoun's belief in divine provision amidst challenges.
"MAF's mission is very specific. They have a clear goal in mind and a clear way to get there," Calhoun noted. "In a world that can often feel like shifting sand, MAF is concrete. They reach the places on this side of heaven that still need us to go."
