The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) is set to bring the iconic score of Jurassic Park to life in a live concert experience this July. Under the baton of conductor Julian Pellicano, the orchestra will perform John Williams' legendary music while the film is projected in high definition on the big screen at the Orpheum Theatre.

The Movie Nights with the VSO series presents Jurassic Park on July 9 and 10, 2026. Both performances begin at 7 p.m. at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver. Tickets are currently available for purchase through the VSO's official website.
A Tribute to Spielberg and Williams
This special event celebrates the work of filmmaker Steven Spielberg and composer John Williams. Williams, now 94 years old, has composed some of the most memorable film scores in history, including Star Wars, E.T., and the first three Harry Potter films. His work on Jurassic Park, a groundbreaking 1993 adventure thriller, remains a masterpiece of cinematic music.
The VSO has a long history of performing Williams' scores for films directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Alfonso Cuarón, Ron Howard, and others. The live performance allows audiences to experience the thrill of the stampeding Gallimimus and the tension of the velociraptor hunt in a fully immersive way.
Family-Friendly Entertainment
The Movie Nights with the VSO events are presented by Telus and are designed to be family-oriented. However, parents should note that Jurassic Park is rated PG-13 for intense science fiction terror, including scenes where young children are pursued by raptors. The VSO recommends checking film ratings before attending.
In addition to Jurassic Park, the VSO will host screenings of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi on July 16-17 and Disney's The Lion King on July 24-25. For those interested in classic cinema, the Silent Movie Mondays series at the Orpheum also remains popular.
