Vancouver-Filmed TV Adaptation 'Every Year After' Announces Official Release Date
Prime Video has officially confirmed the premiere date for the highly anticipated television adaptation of Canadian author Carley Fortune's bestselling novel Every Summer After. The series, titled Every Year After, will debut exclusively on the streaming platform on June 10, with all episodes becoming available at once for binge-watching enthusiasts.
Production Details and Vancouver Connection
The romantic drama series was filmed entirely in Vancouver, with production taking place throughout last year. The picturesque setting of Bowen Island served as the stand-in for the fictional lakeside town of Barry's Bay, which serves as the central location for the story's nostalgic summer romance.
Every Year After follows the complex relationship between protagonists Percy and Sam, portrayed by rising stars Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett. The narrative spans six formative summers during their teenage years, from ages 13 to 18, when they develop an inseparable bond while spending their days on the water and working evenings together at Sam's family restaurant.
Plot Synopsis and Character Dynamics
According to the official series description: "Told over the course of six years and one week in Barry's Bay — the quintessential lake town — Every Year After is a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever."
The story takes a dramatic turn when Percy and Sam's relationship unexpectedly fractures, leading Percy to leave Barry's Bay behind for more than a decade. She only returns following the death of Sam's mother, setting the stage for unresolved emotions to resurface and potentially rekindle their connection.
