Director Nat Boltt, communicating via Zoom from Vancouver while Margolyes participated from Tuscany, disclosed that she specifically envisioned the British-Australian actress for the role of Sister Luke when adapting Joy Cowley's novel of the same name. "I always wanted Miriam, always," Boltt affirmed. "I wrote this screenplay with her firmly in mind."

Boltt described navigating through industry "gatekeepers" before successfully delivering the script to Margolyes. "We enlisted an exceptional casting director who maintained connections with all these esteemed actresses, which ultimately enabled us to get Miriam to review the material," Boltt recounted.

"I don't believe I'm particularly difficult to reach, but regardless, I feel tremendously fortunate that you managed to contact me and desired my participation," Margolyes remarked to Boltt during their virtual conversation.
