Filming for season 3 of HBO's The Last of Us has taken to the streets of Vancouver once again. Stars Kaitlyn Dever and Kyriana Kratter were recently spotted shooting scenes in the downtown core, transforming the area into an apocalypse-ravaged Seattle.
Downtown Vancouver Transformed
The post-apocalyptic series, which began production on its third season in early March, is scheduled to continue filming in Hollywood North through the end of November. Social media posts have captured the recent filming action, with fans spotting the unique set around the downtown area. The staging area for cast and crew was set up outside the old Hudson's Bay store, which has been vacant since closing its doors a year ago.
Season 3 Focus on Abby and the WLF
Reports on the specifics of season 3 have been kept under wraps, but it is rumored to be the final season. The season will focus on Abby's story and the conflict between the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) and the Seraphites. Dever told Deadline in January, “The fans are really going to like it, I think, the shifting perspective onto Abby, getting some more context onto her storyline and going back in time with this season.”
The series, adapted from a video game, takes place two decades after civilization was flattened by a fungal pandemic. Season 2 ended with a bloody cliffhanger, leaving fans eager for the next installment.
Filming Locations Around Vancouver
Vancouver has been a stand-in for Seattle for several cycles of filming, allowing eagle-eyed fans to spot production scenes. In April, the crew set up at the old Hudson's Bay store, and in 2024, the show turned Vancouver's Chinatown into another major filming location. The series has been spotted in various locations around the Lower Mainland in recent weeks.
Season 3 of The Last of Us is highly anticipated, and fans are excited to see how the story unfolds. The show continues to be a major production in Vancouver, contributing to the city's reputation as a hub for film and television.
