Drake's highly anticipated album 'Iceman' has finally arrived, and it is clear that the Canadian rapper has not moved on from his high-profile feud with Kendrick Lamar. The album, released alongside two surprise companion projects 'Maid of Honour' and 'Habibti', is filled with subliminal shots aimed at several figures in the hip-hop world.
Kendrick Lamar
Unsurprisingly, Drake targets Lamar repeatedly on 'Iceman'. In tracks like 'Whisper My Name', he raps, 'Whisper my name and don't say it too loud, 'cause you gotta come here and you know I pop out.' He also takes aim at Lamar's post-beef success and his Super Bowl performance, with lines like 'White kids listen to you 'cause they feel some guilt and that's how your soul gets fulfilled.'
J. Cole
Drake also addresses his strained relationship with J. Cole, who apologized for his diss track '7-Minute Drill' aimed at Lamar. On 'Make Them Pay', Drake raps, 'I love you 'cause of the history, but if we being real, I could never forgive you, and you never called me back.'
Lucian Grainge and UMG
Drake's legal battles with his label UMG are also referenced. He says, 'I'm fighting the man, not suing a rapper, you boys are not listening,' and 'I'm the golden goose, shakin' things up at Lucian's house.'
Jay-Z
Drake takes shots at Jay-Z, possibly in response to Hov's comments about the feud. On 'Janice STFU', he raps, 'We know how you OGs rocking already, my n***a, the jig is up.'
Rick Ross
Rick Ross, who sided with Lamar, is also a target. Drake says, 'Dog, I was aiding Ross with streams before Adin Ross had ever streamed.'
A$AP Rocky
Drake's issues with A$AP Rocky, reportedly over Rihanna, are evident. He raps, 'Your baby mama ain't even post your single, damn, where she at?'
DJ Khaled
Drake calls out DJ Khaled for staying neutral, referencing Khaled's Palestinian heritage: 'Your people are still waitin' for a Free Palestine.'
LeBron James
LeBron James, who embraced Lamar's 'Not Like Us', is dissed on 'Make Them Remember': 'You always made your career off of switchin' teams up.'
Mustard
Mustard, producer of 'Not Like Us', gets a mention: 'Mustard heard about us, gotta catch up to the slaps, you ain't had one since me and YG rapped.'
Pusha T and Pharrell
Drake also takes aim at Pusha T and Pharrell, referencing Virginia: 'I got all the chains that they ever repped in Virginia.'
The World
The album closes with a reflective note: 'What happened to Drake from 2009 when all of the moments was intimate? I don't think we'll be seein' him again.'
