Calgary Twins Victoria & Kennedy Star with Lawrence, Pattinson in 'Die My Love'
Calgary babies star in film with Jennifer Lawrence

In a story that blends Hollywood glamour with local family life, Calgary fraternal twins Victoria and Kennedy Calderwood have made their big-screen debut alongside A-list stars Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. The infants shared the spotlight in the Alberta-filmed feature film 'Die My Love', directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lynne Ramsay.

An Unexpected Audition Leads to Stardom

The journey to the silver screen began with a casual tip from another parent at their older brother's daycare in late 2024. James Calderwood, the twins' father, initially heard about a casting call for twins and passed the information to his wife, Kathryn. Despite having a connection to an agent through soccer, Kathryn didn't pursue it until she saw a social media post about the same opportunity.

After sending photos to the agent, the family waited weeks before receiving a call for an audition. The casting call was for twins but did not specify gender, which worked in the girls' favor. "I guess they looked enough alike and they passed as boys," James Calderwood remarked. To ensure continuity, Kennedy's hair was cut to match her sister Victoria, who had very little hair at the time of filming in early 2025.

The "Perfect" Audition That Lasted 35 Minutes

The audition, scheduled for a brief ten minutes, turned into a 35-minute session as casting directors observed the twins' interactions with each other and strangers. The parents were understandably nervous, knowing a single meltdown could end the opportunity. "The girls were perfect," James recalled. "If they had one meltdown, the career was over."

Director Lynne Ramsay personally joined the audition, interacting with the babies. Kathryn Calderwood remembered Ramsay commenting that she had made a special connection with one of the twins. The Calderwoods estimated about six sets of twins were at the audition, making the girls' selection even more remarkable for their first-ever tryout.

A Surreal Glimpse Into Film Production

About a week before principal photography began, the family visited the set for a camera test and to meet the cast. The twins took turns playing a single baby boy character in the film. For the Calderwood family, the entire process provided a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at major motion picture production.

Reflecting on the experience, the twins' mother described it as "surreal". The project not only gave the babies a unique first credit but also offered their Calgary-based family an unforgettable peek into the world of filmmaking, all without leaving their home province of Alberta. The movie, featuring their scenes with Lawrence and Pattinson, is slated for release following its production wrap in late 2025.
