The sweetest spring tradition in Toronto is officially making its comeback. Sugar Shack TO, the city's beloved celebration of all things maple, will return in 2026 after a one-year hiatus, organizers announced on National Maple Syrup Day.
A New Waterfront Home for a Sweet Tradition
The 2026 edition of the festival marks a significant move. For the first time, Sugar Shack TO will be hosted at Harbourfront Centre, located at 235 Queens Quay West. The event is scheduled for the first weekend of March Break, March 14 and 15, 2026, transforming the waterfront into a hub of Canadian culture and maple-infused fun.
"We're thrilled to bring Sugar Shack TO back to Toronto's waterfront, and even more excited to partner with Harbourfront Centre for the first time," said Mike Riehl, Chair of the Water's Edge Festivals & Events Board of Directors. He emphasized that the new partnership enables an enhanced experience, delivering on a promise to return stronger.
What to Expect at the 2026 Festival
Now in its seventh year, the free-admission festival will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. Attendees can look forward to a full lineup of classic activities and tasty treats.
The event will feature two sugar shacks, presented by Menkes Developments, where visitors can watch and taste fresh Ontario maple taffy rolled on snow. The offerings will also include maple-infused comfort food, demonstrations on maple sugaring, and delicious creations featuring Redpath Sugar.
Beyond the culinary delights, the festival promises live entertainment, interactive family-friendly activities, and sponsor giveaways. A warming station provided by Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport will offer a cozy respite.
A Partnership Rooted in Community and Culture
The collaboration between Water's Edge Festivals & Events and Harbourfront Centre is described as a natural fit. Both organizations share a commitment to creating accessible, family-friendly cultural experiences on the city's iconic waterfront.
"This festival reflects so much of what our mission is about, bringing people together through culture, shared experiences and a strong sense of place," said Cathy Loblaw, CEO of Harbourfront Centre. She noted that Sugar Shack TO exemplifies how arts, culture, and recreation can merge in joyful, traditionally rooted ways.
Major partners for the 2026 event include Redpath Sugar (the presenting sponsor), Harbourfront Centre, Menkes Developments, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, Porter Airlines, and the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel.
