The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) Summer Night Concert series has unveiled its second wave of performers for the 2026 season, with Broadway and film sensation Cynthia Erivo set to take the stage backed by the renowned Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO). This announcement follows the earlier reveal of acts including Blue Rodeo, the Guess Who, the Beaches, Nelly, and Zedd, showcasing the series' commitment to a diverse musical lineup.
Expanding Musical Horizons at the PNE
Fair creative director Patrick Roberge expressed immense enthusiasm about securing Cynthia Erivo for the concert series. "We are one of the first fairs to bring in Cynthia with an orchestra, and I think it's going to be amazing," Roberge stated. "The PNE is not just '90s bands anymore. Those artists are still very popular and a part of the experience, but we can really mix it up, too." This move highlights the PNE's evolution from its traditional offerings to include more varied and contemporary performances.
Second Lineup Highlights
The newly announced acts for the 2026 PNE Summer Night Concert series include:
- Mt. Joy – An indie folk-rock band known for their heartfelt lyrics and energetic live shows.
- Punjabi Virsa – A group celebrating Punjabi culture through vibrant music and dance.
- Train – The Grammy-winning rock band famous for hits like "Drops of Jupiter."
- Barenaked Ladies – Iconic Canadian alternative rockers with a legacy of catchy tunes.
- Cynthia Erivo with the VSO – A unique collaboration blending Erivo's powerful vocals with orchestral grandeur.
This eclectic mix ensures something for every musical taste, from rock and pop to cultural showcases and symphonic performances.
Fan Favorites and Returning Acts
Roberge also noted the strong demand for certain performers, particularly rapper Nelly, who is making a return to the PNE after his 2022 appearance. "After he played the fair in 2022, we were constantly getting requests to bring him back," Roberge explained. "So OK, we're bringing him back. It's all fun for us." Nelly's signature style, including his iconic white Band-Aid accessory and influence on sneaker culture, adds a nostalgic touch for fans.
