The Vancouver-based non-profit organization Public Disco is launching a new all-day underground electronic music festival in North Vancouver this fall. Known for hosting dance music events in unconventional urban locales for the past decade, Public Disco aims to invigorate community-driven cultural events with free and low-barrier pricing.
Event Details
The festival takes place on Oct. 3 at the Shipyards District in Lower Lonsdale, North Vancouver, from 2 to 10 p.m. The venue, located at 220 145 Chadwick Court, is easily accessible by public transit and vehicle. The event is for ages 19 and over.
Tickets and Pricing
Tickets start at $47.50 and are available at admitone.com.
Headliners and Performers
Headlining the festival are DJ Leon Vynehall and Prosumer from the U.K., New York's Fred P, and Detroit's DJ Holographic. Additional main stage DJs include Vancouver's Dane and Calgary's DJ Hannah. The all-vinyl listening lounge, powered by Lobe Studio's spatial sound system, features local DJs Scott W, Kozue, Christa Belle, and Serena S. Live visuals are provided by artists Toi Whakairo, clara, Laine Butler, and curator ephemeral objects.
Festival Spaces
The event will feature three spaces: an open-air main stage with an industrial vibe and harbour views, the Pipe Shop Venue with an all-vinyl listening room and curated visual art projections, and the Shipbuilders' Square Food Market offering culinary delights.
This is the largest event in Public Disco's 10-year history. Executive Director Nickolas Collinet stated, "Public Disco has always been about transformation, and the Shipyards District is a brilliant example of that same spirit. We're bringing artists who have helped shape house music culture to a site built to be reclaimed by the public."
