The Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) has officially unveiled its newly redesigned Hemingway Cigar Lounge, a sophisticated retreat located at the heart of the club. The intimate space embodies the elegance, discretion, and culture for which YCM is renowned, with a timeless design that highlights artisanal craftsmanship.
A Vision of Maritime Elegance
Under the presidency of HSH Prince Albert II, and with the support of Secretary General Bernard d'Alessandri and YCM member Christophe Degoumois, the lounge has been transformed. The renovation was inspired by the maritime world and YCM's philosophy of Art de Vivre la Mer. Jahid Fazal-Karim, owner and Chairman of Jetcraft, also contributed to the project.
Interior designer Andrea Zanetti, a graduate of Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, and founder of Monegasque Mov'In Studio, led the redesign. Her vision combines contemporary lines, unique pieces, and top-quality materials to create an atmosphere that is both welcoming and refined.
"I envisioned this Cigar Lounge as a port of call, a minimalist space inspired by the timeless elegance of vintage yachts and the marine world," Zanetti explained. "The idea was to create a luminous, airy atmosphere, where each space tells a story and offers an experience. The use of natural and sustainable materials, along with artisanal expertise, creates a subtle dialogue between tradition, innovation, and modernity."
Inauguration with Musical Virtuosity
The inauguration took place on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, presided over by HSH Prince Albert II. The event featured world-renowned violinist Daniel Lozakovich, playing a Stradivarius, alongside concert pianist Hélène Mercier. Their musical interlude showcased the exquisite precision of violin and piano, reflecting the artistic universe of their album Lost to the World, released on 6 March 2026.
A Haven for Discerning Aficionados
The Hemingway Cigar Lounge offers an exclusive haven for cigar enthusiasts. It opens onto a terrace with views over the YCM Marina and the Rocher, and provides 87 private lockers. The lounge features a selection of cigars from the finest brands, representing a range of carefully chosen varieties.
Bernard d'Alessandri emphasized the lounge's role as a place for transmission: "This area was conceived as a space where the precision of lines and quality of materials are as important as their function. They are integral to YCM's vision of promoting dialogue between tradition, excellence, and innovation, anchored in a maritime art de vivre la mer lifestyle. The collaboration with Andrea Zanetti was a natural decision, as she champions a design approach where heritage, expertise, and contemporary perspective harmonize."
The Hemingway Cigar Lounge stands as a testament to Yacht Club de Monaco's commitment to timeless elegance and refined experiences.
