Project Examples
Among the funded projects is a $30 million renovation of the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, which will expand gallery space and improve accessibility. Another $15 million will go to the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde in Montreal for upgrades to its stage and seating.
In Quebec City, the Grand Théâtre will receive $12 million for technical upgrades and improved acoustics. Smaller communities will also benefit, including a $5 million project for the Centre culturel de Gaspé.
Economic Impact
The investment is expected to create over 1,000 jobs during construction and support long-term employment in the cultural sector. According to a government analysis, cultural industries contribute $8.7 billion annually to Quebec's GDP.
