Midland Unveils Pride Pathway for 2SLGBTQ+ Community

The Town of Midland celebrated the opening of its new Pride pathway on July 3, 2026, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The pathway features rainbow crosswalks and inclusive signage designed to foster a sense of belonging for the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Project Details and Community Response

The pathway, located in the downtown core, connects key community spaces and includes permanent rainbow markings. Mayor Bill Gordon stated, “This pathway is a symbol of our commitment to inclusivity and diversity. It sends a clear message that everyone is welcome in Midland.” The project was funded by the town and supported by local advocacy groups.

According to the town, the pathway cost $50,000 and took three months to complete. It was inspired by similar initiatives in other Canadian cities. Local resident and Pride organizer Sarah Thompson said, “This is a huge step for our community. It shows that Midland values all its residents.”
