The BRICK AWARD 26 ceremony in Vienna celebrated the versatility and beauty of brick and ceramic building materials, honoring architects and designers from around the world. Hosted by wienerberger, the manufacturer-independent award recognizes pioneers of brick architecture.
Grand Prize Winner: Đạo Mẫu Temple and Museum
The Grand Prize was awarded to the Đạo Mẫu Temple and Museum in Soc Son, Vietnam, designed by ARB Architects for folk artist Xuân Hinh. This carbon-negative project upcycled six million clay tiles from over 500 local homes, blending spiritual aesthetics with contemporary life on a 5,000 sqm site.
Category Winners
The Feeling at home category was won by Ca na Birgit (Birgit's Home) in Mallorca, designed by TEd'A arquitectes. This 194 sqm open-plan home uses locally sourced brick and addresses privacy and sea views through a clever design with two deep walls.
Peris+Toral Arquitectes won the Living together award for a mixed-use building in Barcelona with 54 social rental apartments. The bioclimatic Social Atrium uses biomass-fired brick for temperature regulation.
Special Prize and Other Categories
For the first time, a Special Prize was awarded to a project reinventing the neighborhood concept. The Working together category recognized commercial and industrial buildings, while Building outside the box celebrated innovation.
Presented biennially since 2004, the BRICK AWARD provides a platform for unique designs and promotes brick as a timeless material for forward-looking architecture.
