Tori Spelling Opens Up About Terrifying Car Crash Experience
Actress Tori Spelling has shared chilling details about a recent car accident that could have ended in tragedy. The 52-year-old Beverly Hills, 90210 alum revealed in an Instagram video that she and four of her children, along with three of their friends, were involved in a serious collision in Temecula, California, just days before Easter.
"Going Crazy, Crazy Fast"
Spelling described the terrifying moment when another vehicle slammed into her car. "The other driver was speeding, going crazy, crazy fast," she recounted, explaining that the person ran a traffic light before the impact. According to US Weekly reports, Spelling recalled the "split-second" realization that a crash was unavoidable, prompting her to instinctively protect the children in the vehicle.
In that critical moment, Spelling made a quick decision to turn the wheel hard to the left, attempting to reduce the impact on the side where the children were seated. While this maneuver helped mitigate some of the damage, the force of the collision still caused their vehicle to spin out of control. Looking back on the incident, Spelling expressed her belief that "guardian angels" were watching over them during the frightening ordeal.
Aftermath and Medical Attention
The accident occurred on April 2 around 5:44 p.m. on Rancho California Road, according to authorities. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found two damaged vehicles and conducted medical evaluations for everyone involved. NBC News reported that Spelling and all seven children were transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.
TMZ, which first broke the story, indicated that those involved sustained various injuries including:
- Cuts and bruises
- Contusions
- Concussions
Despite the chaos and injuries, Spelling emphasized how fortunate they were given the circumstances. "We are so grateful and so lucky because it could have been so much worse," she stated in her video message.
Gratitude Amidst Chaos
Spelling expressed deep appreciation for the quick response and care provided by emergency personnel. She thanked first responders and hospital staff who attended to everyone involved in the accident, as well as those who reached out with support following the incident, per USA Today reports.
The actress admitted that it took her some time to speak publicly about the experience because the entire situation felt overwhelming. However, she wanted to reassure everyone that they were recovering and emphasize the importance of road safety.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with the crash, and the cause remains under investigation. This marks another frightening road incident for Spelling, who previously shared details about a "pretty big accident" in 2011 when she was trying to evade a paparazzo following her and her children to school, according to NBC News.
Personal Challenges and Resilience
The accident comes during a particularly challenging period in Spelling's life. In a previous interview with the Toronto Sun, the actress spoke candidly about the difficulties of being a single mother of five following her separation from Canadian actor Dean McDermott. The couple, who split in June 2023 after nearly 18 years of marriage, share five children together: Liam, Stella, Hattie, Finn, and Beau.
Spelling admitted that managing parenting responsibilities and work commitments has become increasingly demanding since the separation. She described her home life as having become chaotic, even acknowledging that her living conditions had reached what she called "borderline hoarder" status after being called out by her podcast co-host Amy Sugarman.
The actress revealed that when she was married, McDermott maintained more order in their household. Now, juggling these responsibilities largely on her own has affected both her health and professional life to the point where she avoids having visitors altogether. Despite these personal challenges, Spelling's focus remains on her family's recovery from the recent accident and expressing gratitude for their safety.
