In a move that underscores her commitment to transparency, Olympic gymnastics legend Simone Biles has openly discussed her recent decision to undergo plastic surgery. The most decorated gymnast in history revealed she has had three separate cosmetic procedures, sharing the details with her fans in a candid social media revelation.
Sharing Her Journey Openly
Biles recently took to TikTok to disclose that she has undergone three plastic surgeries throughout her life. She even engaged her followers by asking them to guess what work she had done. While two procedures were subtle, the third was more noticeable—a fact the athlete addressed with characteristic honesty.
"It's just who I am and I feel like I've always tried to be open, honest and relatable," Biles told People magazine in an interview published in November 2025. She acknowledged that while watching her win Olympic medals might not be relatable to most people, "what is relatable is how we feel about ourselves, what we talk about, what we go through and how we share openly, honestly."
The Specific Procedures Revealed
Biles confirmed she underwent a lower blepharoplasty, commonly known as an eyelid lift, to address what she calls the "Biles eye bags"—a hereditary trait in her family. According to the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, this procedure removes excess skin, muscle and fat from the eyelids.
She also had earlobe surgery to correct damage from childhood when one of her earrings "got ripped out."
The most talked-about procedure, however, was her breast augmentation. Biles all but confirmed this surgery last month when she shared a cherries emoji on her Instagram Stories—a symbol that has become internet slang for women's breasts.
Motivation Behind the Surgeries
Contrary to what some might assume, Biles stressed that her decision wasn't driven by self-dislike. "OK, obviously you can notice the breasts," she told People. "But other than that, it's just feeling good about yourself and loving yourself, and I've always been very vocal about that."
She clarified further: "And not that I didn't like the way I looked or the way I felt. It's just something that I notice obviously a little bit more because I live in this body, I'm just so used to it."
Regarding her eyelid surgery, Biles explained the practical motivation: "Every time I would go to a shoot, they're like, 'Oh, can we put some strips on her?' And I was like, 'Oh, baby, I had 12 hours last night, these aren't going away. These are just hereditary.' So it's something that I wanted to fix."
Previous Cosmetic Experience and Message to Fans
Biles also recounted a previous cosmetic experience that didn't go as planned—Botox injections on her 27th birthday. "For me, it didn't go well. I didn't like it because I had a floating eyebrow and everyone was asking what that was," she recalled. Still, she maintained her policy of transparency with her followers.
Through her openness about these personal choices, Biles hopes to empower others. "I also think it shows young girls that they have the right to their own choices, whatever they are, and that's no shame added as well," the seven-time Olympic gold medalist stated.
Her ultimate message emphasizes self-acceptance: "As long as you love yourself, that's really all that matters."
