Oscars Security Firm Admits Guard's Conduct Unprofessional After Teyana Taylor Shoving Incident

The security firm employed by the Academy Awards has acknowledged that a guard's actions during an altercation with Oscar-nominated actress Teyana Taylor did not meet its standards of professionalism. This admission follows a viral video capturing the tense encounter at the ceremony.

Viral Video Captures Tense Exchange

Taylor, who starred in the Best Picture winner One Battle After Another, was seen on video scolding the security guard for putting his hands on her after the Oscars. In the footage, she repeatedly stated, "You're very rude" and pointed at him, asserting, "He literally shoved me" to others in the crowd.

A source with knowledge of the events confirmed to HuffPost that the guard attempted to block Taylor from returning to the stage for a victory photo with the cast. According to reports, he tried to push her away and even asked her to apologize during the confrontation.

Security Firm's Statement Downplays Incident

Security Industry Specialists, the firm hired for the event, issued a statement to Variety describing the interaction as "incidental contact" in a crowded area. The firm expressed regret that the situation escalated and emphasized that this was not the professionalism expected from their team.

"We have addressed the matter internally to help ensure situations like this do not happen again," the statement concluded, though it stopped short of detailing any specific disciplinary actions taken against the guard.

Taylor and Academy Respond Strongly

Later that night, Taylor told TMZ, "Security was just doing a lot. ... There's always that one." She added, "I just don't tolerate disrespect, especially when it's unwarranted and unprovoked."

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released a statement via Deadline, expressing extreme upset over Taylor's experience. "We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community," the statement read.

It continued, "Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable." The Academy thanked Taylor for her grace and assured that measures are being taken to prevent future occurrences.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about security protocols at high-profile events, raising questions about training and accountability in managing celebrity interactions.
